  4. Click save.

  1. Navigate to your "My Pictures" folder.

  2. Right click on the picture.  A menu will pop up.

  3. Go to Open With and then click Paint.NET.

  4. Paint.NET should now be open.  You may need to press F7 and F8 to bring up colors and layers.

  5. Down in the layers window you are going to click the plus sign to add a layer.

  6. Now you have layer 2 and a background picture.

  7. Which ever layer is blue represents the layer you are working on.

  8. You may be wondering why layer 2 is a checkerboard.  A checkerboard represents the fact that it is transparent.  (transparent means see through)

  9. We are going to add some clouds to the picture.  Click >effects >clouds.

  10. Click Ok on the next screen.

  11. Now we have a cloud covering the patriot.

  12. Press the F4 key to go to layer properties.

  13. Look at the mode button.  Change the different modes to see what happens.

  14. Change the Opacity as well.  I changed my opacity to 137.  When you have something interesting looking click OK.

  15. I added additional layers to make it more interesting.

  16. Experiment with all the different effects to see what you can create.  Here is what I created.

  17. Raise your hand so the teacher can come over and give you credit for the assignment.
