Building Your First Simple Animation

Parenting - You are going to parent the light to the camera.  This means that the light will go wherever the camera goes.

Keys Used

R Key - Rotates things
Right Click - Selects objects
G Key - Grabs things
Shift Key - Selects multiple objects
Ctrl - P Key - Parents objects
R - Key - Rotates objects
F12 Key - Takes a picture
 

  1. Click Start. 

  2. Locate the Blender icon and click it.  This opens up Blender. 

  3. The typical Blender opening scene is now open.  It looks like this. 

  4. First thing we are going to do is turn widget mode off.  Click on the hand.  When you do this the green and red arrow go away. 

  5. Right click on the light.  The light will turn pink when you have selected it. 

  6. Press the G Key on the keyboard.  Bring the light down in front of the camera.

  7. Hold down the Shift Key and right click the camera.  The camera should become pink too. 

  8. Press Ctrl - P.  A menu like this will show up. 

  9. Click Make Parent and the menu will go away.

  10. Right click the camera.  Now it will be the only pink thing.

  11. Press the G - Key.

  12. Move the camera in front of the cube.

  13. Press the R Key.  Move your mouse so it is pointing at the cube.

  14. Press the F12 Key.  This takes a picture of the cube.  Your picture will look like this. 

  15. Click on the X when you are done looking.
