Start Blender
Press the X KEY and then erase.
This gets
rid of the cube.
Press NUM 1 this takes you into front view.
Press Spacebar < Add < Mesh < Monkey
Turn off widget mode by clicking the hand.

Right click on one of the vertices.

Press the G KEY and move your mouse.
Try this with a couple of other vertices.
Look at your mouse. Try pressing the scroll wheel down. You should notice that it is a click.
Now click the scroll wheel and move your mouse. This rotates your view.
These numbers will rotate your view too.
NUM 1 - Front View
Ctrl NUM 1 - Back View
NUM 3 - Side View
Ctrl NUM 3 - Other Side View
NUM 7 - Top View
Ctrl NUM 7 - Bottom View
Lets add color.
Click on the shading button.

Click on the gray box next to Col.

Select a color and move your mouse on top of the monkey.


Lets use face select mode.
Click on face select.

Click on the button next to face select.

Select a face. 
Grab this face and move it.
