You are doing just fine. Keep on working.
Press the A KEY to deselect all vertices.
Press the
B KEY twice to get
the circle selecting tool. Select all the vertices in the middle.

Click View.
Click Front View.

Press the letter O KEY. Not the number zero. This is going to pull the center of the octopus up.
Press the G KEY.
This part is a tiny tricky. A
circle is going to appear around your octopus. We need this circle to
go around the entire octopus. If you spin your mouse wheel forwards
the circle will get smaller. If you spin the mouse wheel backwards the
mouse wheel will get bigger. Here are 3 pictures showing the circle
getting bigger.

Move your mouse up so your picture
looks something like this.

Press the letter O KEY.
Press the
A KEY to deselect
all. Press the B KEY
twice for the selecting tool. Select only the vertices at the very top
like this picture.

Right click to exit the selecting tool.
Press the
E KEY and move
your mouse up. Try to keep your lines straight.

Press the
S KEY for scaling and
move your mouse out until it looks like this.

Press the
E KEY for extrude.
Click Edges.
Move your mouse up until it looks like this.

Press the
E KEY and extrude up
again.

Press the
S KEY and move
your mouse in a little so you get something like this.

Press the
E KEY and extrude up 1 last time.

Press the
S KEY and move your
vertices in together. Click when they are all together.

Press the
Tab KEY. Make
sure this says Object Mode.![]()
Click Add Modifiers.

Click Subsurf.

Set levels
to 2.

Click Apply.

Click Set Smooth.

Click Materials.

Change the material name to octopus.

Click on the gray box next to col.

Move around all the colors that you
see until you see a color that you like. I picked pink because my son was
with me and likes the color pink.
