Local, state, and the federal government have put websites on the Internet that are supposed to make our lives easier.  You will have to decide if this is true for yourself.  I think the websites are very convenient.  For example you can renew you car registration online which saves the cost of a stamp.  It costs you the taste of licking the envelope also which is well worth the effort of using the Internet.

www.whitehouse.gov  This is currently President George Bush's homepage.  Whoever the current president is can be found here.  There is a nice section for children also.

www.ca.gov  This is currently Arnold Schwarzenegger's home page.  There are many good links about our state here.  This includes limited access to state government resources.  You could file your state income tax here if you wanted.

http://www.dmv.ca.gov/  With a website for the DMV many people will have to miss a pleasant summer day standing in line at the DMV.  You can easily renew you license in some cases or renew your registration online.
